Dental Examination & Dental X-rays

A dental examination and dental x-rays is the process often referred to as a check-up- it is a routine process where a dentist examines your teeth and checks for any problems. This is normally done on your First visit. This exam allows the dentist to identify problems such as Tooth Decay, Gum Disease, Oral Lesions/ Cancer. Dental x-rays may also be taken at this time. A treatment plan is then established based on this examination.

Dental X-ray examinations provide valuable information that helps your dentist evaluate your oral health. With the help of X-rays, your dentist can look at what is happening beneath the surface of your teeth and gums.

Dental Cleaning

Also known as Dental Prophylaxis or Scale /Polish involves-

  • Removal of plaque,- Plaque is a sticky, almost invisible film that forms on the teeth. It is a growing colony of living bacteria, food debris, and saliva

  • Removal of calculus (tartar): Calculus is hardened plaque that has been left on the tooth for some time and is now firmly attached to the tooth surface. Calculus forms above and below the gum line and can only be removed with special dental instruments.

  • Teeth polishing: Remove further stain and plaque that is not otherwise removed during tooth brushing and scaling.

Dental Cleanings are recommended every 6 months to prevent gum disease and maintain good oral hygiene .
